About Me
My name is Ziyue “Alan” Xiang (项子越), I am working as Senior Researcher at Tencent Media Lab. I am investigating video compression technologies for next generation international video coding standard. I am a member of Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia) and Joint Video Experts Team (JVET). My research interests include computer vision, machine learning, media forensics, video processing, image processing, speech processing, video compression, and audio compression.

I obtained my PhD from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette. I was advised by Prof. Edward J. Delp, and a member of the VIPER lab.
I obtained MSc. in Computer Science degree from Syracuse University. I was a member of Prof. Daniel E. Acuna’s SOC+CD lab.
The pronunciation of my last name can be confusing for people that are not familiar with Mandarin Chinese. It resembles the English pronunciation of “Shawn”. Hence, the domain name is “alanshawn”.
